ABOUT

Our popular Saturday drop in for poets of all knowledge and skillset!

Our Saturday School classes are designed by the tutor to be independent, so no class precedes or follows on from another, meaning you can come and go as you please without feeling you have disrupted the class or your learning experience!

Each week our tutor will design a class based on the curriculum pillars below and will ensure that all lessons are accessible and challenging for all levels, from beginner to intermediate and of course advanced! Meaning you get a different lesson every week that will challenge you no matter who you are!

CURRICULUM

CRAFT

The bread and butter of what we do at our Saturday School. Our tutors will teach you about many different aspects of our craft. From writing in forms such as Sestinas and Sonnets, to rhyme schemes and metres, and everything in between.

PEER STUDY

One of the most important aspects of being a poet, alongside the craft of writing, is learning about your peers. Our Saturday School will offer peer case studies from time to time to develop your knowledge and understanding of other poets and their work. This will in turn help you understand what you do and don't like in poems, which will go a long way in helping you develop your own voice and style.

PERFORMANCE

Academy Principal Adam Gary started out in the performing arts through acting. He believes a big part about being a modern poet is the ability to connect and perform your works of poetry when called upon. It is his goal to help our students develop stage presence and gravitas, as well as most importantly their confidence. For this reason we offer classes in performance and reading delivery to equip our students with the tools for future career opportunities.
