from Wikipedia: "William Topaz McGonagall was a Scottish poet of Irish descent. He gained notoriety as an extremely bad poet who exhibited no recognition of, or concern for, his peers' opinions of his work. Throughout his life McGonagall campaigned against excessive drinking, appearing in pubs and bars to give edifying poems and speeches, which proved popular.[ He met with the ire of the publicans, on one occasion being pelted with peas for reciting a poem about the evils of "strong drink". He found lucrative work performing his poetry at a local circus. He read his poems while the crowd was permitted to pelt him with eggs, flour, herrings, potatoes and stale bread. For this, he received fifteen shillings a night. McGonagall seemed happy with this arrangement, but the events became so raucous that the city magistrates were forced to put a ban on them" hahahha what a character here is a link to one of his poems see what you think...

Hey mates. What do you think about this collaboration between HAAi and Kai-Isaiah Jamal. I reckon they absolutely nail it combining spoken word with techno.

Hey friends Do you ever read some amazing poetry and get the feeling that the stuff you write just doesn't even match it in standard? How do you deal with that feeling?

Hi fellow wanderers Right, I'm new to poetry, just got into it this year in fact, and I find it difficult to connect with a lot of the 'famous' poetry I read and often much of it fails to stir any kind of reaction in me. However I have recently read parts of 'Song of My Life' by Walt Whitman. This poem is on another level. Anybody who hasn't read it I recommend you do.

I recently saw an online prompt for writing poems of only 1 line but also challenged writers to use 1 word. I thought how could this be possible? One word on its own can only be understood from its literal meanings, surely.

After reading @Ken Merchant fantastic article on The Cove blog I thought it might be fun to share any blackout / silhouette poetry we have done. I played around with it a few months back so here is one of my favourites. It uses a page from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind by Spielberg.

Hey friends. What are your opinions about very minimal poetry. I don't mean some of the stuff we see nowadays on Instagram, which I would say 99% could be classed as phrases rather than poems. I'm talking about things such as modern haiku or other short poems. I'm quite a fan of haiku and have been thinking about reducing them down to the bare essentials, maybe even to the extent of only nouns and adjectives, three lines two words per line. What are your thoughts? Poetry or cop out? I'll leave you one of mine as example. Empty class open dictionary unusual word .

Hi everyone I love collaborations and another poet on Instagram and I recently collaborated on a (sort of) Renga. Basically a Renga is a type of Japanese collaborative poem where two or more people write consecutive stanzas to create a complete poem. The stanzas don't have to run as a continuous story but should 'echo' the sentiment or the idea of the one before it. I'm sure you all know what a Haiku is. Well the Renga we created was done using haiku. I wrote one then the other person wrote one then I wrote one etc. We wrote five each in total. Are any of you guys interested in doing the same here? I post a link to the Renga we wrote so you can see the idea. Let me know if you want to give it a go. It's fun and creatively stimulating Marc
