What was everyone's best break away and why?
Rome was the most interesting for me!
I have a trip to South Africa coming up in August to do a conservation experience for 2 weeks and cannot WAIT!

I went to the Caribbean, Barbados. Everything about the island was incredible.
The people, the music, the food, the weather, the nature.
Truly a paradise. The way of life is sooo relaxed and even though the people are poor they are really friendly.
And the sea is something else. Coral reefs with tropical fish and turtles.
I could write a thousand words about the place.
Planning a life long vacation soon.
Won't say where yet.
I just won't come back to my country.
And probably for better.
Politics aside,country great,after witnessing what's been happening.
And all B.S I've been through.
Time for me to go.
I absolutely love this! Yes Stratford is a mecca for me too, to be honest! I was there for a week in September to finish The Early Hours!
Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
I've only travelled overseas once, and that was to your neck of the woods: Europe! I had many amazing experiences but the two I will single out as exceptionally special are trekking through Cappadocia in Turkey, and visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. I'm not a religious person, but these two places evoked such a spiritual awakening in me, and I found myself so connected to the ether: of course, as a long-time fan of Shakespeare, and as someone who is ethnically connected to the 'motherland' of Cappadocia- the region was so tranquil and the people were so kind, placid and helpful. I've even written a little poem dedicated to my 'spirit homes' although I don't think it's very good:
Spirit Homes
Stratford-upon-Avon,
The birthplace of the Jacobean era.
There are cobblestones in the ground,
And the Tudor homes are filled with silence
But the streets are full of life.
Grey clouds cloak the glorious afternoon,
Shielding old ghosts that lurk beneath the sun.
Cappadocia,
The resting place of the Bronze era.
There are hot air balloons in the sky,
And the valleys are filled with rocky homes
But the desert is full of silence.
Streetlamps bathe the sable evening in gold,
Illuminating ancient spirits that roam beneath the moon.
I think mine was two weeks in Cornwall. I went in 2017 maybe? And I've been to Cornwall before. My dad comes from Plymouth so we'd go down there on a holiday most years growing up and we'd usually do a day trip to Cornwall. But two weeks there was incredible. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The ocean down there is just so breathtaking. That was my favourite.
