Hello Covers!
I've been thinking. In my NaPoWriMo post, I suggested having virtual write ins to help us get through the challenge and I wondered if that should be a thing regardless of NaPoWriMo.
Let me explain. When I do NaNoWriMo, I usually participate in virtual write ins. They're usually done in 'sprints' where you write as much as you can for fifteen minutes. This doesn't really work for poetry (certainly not the vibe I'm looking for for these 'circles'). But I found being with other people (even virtually) and writing at the same time to be really useful.
I even found an online study group that just has an ongoing zoom that you can join (no mics/chat) so you can be with other people studying at the same time. It helps me stay focussed on whatever I'm working on.
So my suggestion for the Cove: a weekly (or maybe a couple of times a week) 'writing circle' probably on Discord where you can come and write the poem you've been working on for a while or edit your chapbook or read some poetry (I don't do that as much as I should!)
Does that sound like something Covers are interested in?
Yeah I’d be down for that! I’m already on discord as well. Would be fun!
even though this sounds a great idea I don't want to commit myself, what with work, writing and a bunch of other stuff I just can't compromise myself at the moment, but I am interested in the idea.
It will depend on timing, however, this is a unique way to be around Covers.
To write and edit together is an experience in it of itself and the possibilities of writing are endless.
Hopefully I can make it,yet I do see this as a productive time for poetry and people they truly care about with compassion.
Sounds like a fascinating approach to concentration by muting everyone's mics. I guess we'll all telepathic vibe together which I imagine will be helpful in itself (otherwise we'd all get distracted by each other and trailing off in random conversations :P) I'm keen to try this :)
