Hi all,
Really interesting topic.
I have always had a flare for anything creative. When young I first had a background in amateur dramatics, then in my teens took up drumming, and then Djing which later became pathways into becoming a live sound engineer and producer, (away back before the 2008 financial crash). I still dabble though not as much these days.
As I’ve aged and become a husband and dad… my creative side always looks for outlets… and Ifor a time I even dabbled in expressive abstract art, but then found poetry to be another outlet. So have been enjoying this for 6 years on and off. I started writing having experienced a period of hardships/grieve, and I turned myself to poetry as a means to express the otherwise inexpressible. I was an able to encapsulate my experiences with ADHD and Cerebral Pasly. Long story short I was (through encouragement) able to put it into my first chapbook. I know I’ve a long way to go in harnessing the wonderful world of poetry, but I guess every poem is a step forward.
🙂
My eye hand co-ordination has always been weak. So I was reader rather than doing other crafts or arts. I am a great consumer of them and revel in critiquing the critics. @adamgary you have a great eye for photography. Does photography only project surface images? See there I go.
While the written word has always been my deepest passion (poetry, fiction, personal essays, etc.), Art is a second joy for me. I love using pastels (soft and oil), watercolors, and charcoal. When my writing well dries up a bit, I will often turn to art as a medium to express myself. It gives me the freedom to just be present with creation as a mindful tool. I also crochet and love the feel of yarn between my fingers begging to be turned into something new.
I've always had an affinity to wood. Whether the wood remains upright in a living tree, a piece of fine furniture, a rough board, or scraps and sawdust.
i enjoy woodworking as in making furniture or toys, carving a shape yearning to burst forth from the wood, or recently, I've taken up pyrography.
Thanks Dad!
As you guys know, I’ve dipped into the world of filmmaking, and most recently started charcoal drawings.
It probably doesn’t come under the banner art or creativity, so this probably belongs in the other hobbies section BUT: I’ve really really wanted to get into model making and dioramas…
