Hey everyone,
We all have those little things that bring us comfort after a long day—whether it’s a cozy ritual, a favourite hobby, or just something that helps us unwind. For me, it’s sitting with a hot drink and watching the world go by, especially if it’s raining outside. There’s something about the sound of rain that instantly makes everything feel calmer. Even better late at night in a hot tub! (Must get mine repaired!!!)
What’s your go-to comfort activity? Do you have a favorite book you always reread, a TV show that never fails to lift your mood, or maybe a creative outlet that helps you reset? Let’s share the small things that bring us peace—who knows, you might even pick up a new relaxation habit!
Looking forward to hearing what keeps you grounded!
ohhh i love this! 🥰 rain is the best, especially when you're all warm inside with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea. for me, it's dancing in my living room when no one's watching—just letting go and feeling free! also, flipping through old travel photos... something about reliving those moments makes me feel happy and grateful.
what kind of hot drink do you usually go for? i'm a big fan of chamomile at night! ☕💛
marial ❤️
For me? Anime, drawing/inking, sewing, and writing. I can't pick just one. LOL
First, I could spend so long watching the rainy day outside a window…
So, once I started thinking about this I realized I don’t have just one… I have many and I think it depends on what is causing me to want the comfort - or if it is just a lovely relaxing time. I’ve narrowed it down to a few other favorites though haha
Movement is definitely a big one for me - yoga, dance and/or a good walk all come to mind. Though whether that is a walk up a hill for a view or a slow meander varies. I love all 3 of those things for a multitude of reasons though.
Though if we are going to go with comfort of the ice cream variety… Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food wins. The day they made a vegan version was the day the world got a little better haha
Mine is eating chocolate (or ice cream, alternatively) while watching Star Trek Voyager.
I've found Voyager to be my perfect balance, where it's funny but not too funny, serious but comforting, because I already know nothing terrible happens to the ship in the end. Plus I love the characters.
Also the chocolate I eat is usually Hershey's, but if I'm lucky, I can eat Ghirardelli or Godiva chocolates, which are even better.
I like easy reads to chill with... authors like Louis Lamour (westerns), Dick Francis (horse related mysteries). Charlene Harris (Fantasy), Terry Brooks (Fantasy). My all time fav is Robert Heinlein's 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress'
Contemplation not competition
I'm a combat veteran that suffered from depression up until about a year ago. The bottle was my miracle cure until it almost killed me like a friend that grows horns. I have found a slice and a sense of peace when I bring out a new or different tobacco and just smell the aromas and sit in competition as I relax with a nice pipe. There's some elegance and redirection involved that seems to guide me in the right direction while relieving stress dramatically. Its also a good reading companion.
